One Thing I wish People Knew About Weight Loss

One thing I wish more people knew about weight loss is that behavior change takes time—it doesn’t happen overnight! It also requires addressing the root causes behind your eating patterns, habits, or other barriers that might be holding you back.

While quick fixes or drastic measures from influencers might sound appealing, meaningful, long-term change is about addressing the deeper issues or barriers. Research shows it takes an average of 66 days—just over two months—for a new habit to become automatic, but it could take anywhere from 18 to 254 days depending on the person and the behavior .

And there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Each person’s journey is unique:

👉🏻Client A needed to heal their relationship with food first.

👉🏻Client B had to work on their mental health before focusing on lifestyle changes.

👉🏻Client C struggled with an “all or nothing” mindset, needing guidance to create balance and flexibility in their routine.

This is where personalized support makes a huge difference. A dietetic assessment helps you uncover the root causes of your challenges and gives you realistic, sustainable changes that fit your life. It’s not just about following a rigid plan, but about making sure that what you’re doing is something you can maintain long-term.

Before jumping into any big lifestyle changes, ask yourself: “Can I do this for the rest of my life?” For instance, cutting out chocolate forever might not be realistic. Instead, focus on small, consistent actions that feel manageable and can become part of your routine over time.

If you’re ready to address the root causes and make sustainable changes, get in touch!
